Mr. Adélard Cormier of St. Paul, New Brunswick is the 2023 recipient of the Catholic Health Associations of New Brunswick’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Recognized for his volunteerism in the community, Mr. Cormier is an extremely active and dedicated volunteer at the Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital in Ste-Anne-de-Kent, N.B. He is currently the chair of the Hospital Advisory Committee and has been chair there for a number of years. He is also the President of Les Ami-es de Hôpital Stella-Maris-De-Kent Hospital Foundation, that he helped found.
He is a past chair of the N.B. Health Care Association, was on the Board of Directors of the Université de Moncton, along with several other organizations throughout the years. Mr. Cormier was a teacher for 34 years and a former school principal. He holds a Masters degree in education from the Université de Moncton. He has received a number of awards over the years including the Community Star Award for work in drug and alcohol prevention; Medal of Honor from the Université de Moncton; Kent Volunteer of the Year Award; and the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal.
He has been very active in health care in New Brunswick and is a strong advocate of rural health. He is currently the chairperson of the Advisory Committee Chair Council for Catholic Health International. The Board of Directors of both the Catholic Health Association of New Brunswick and Catholic Health International wish to congratulate Mr. Cormier on this Award.
